There's An Ant(Man) In My Cereal!

I hate when I find an ant in my breakfast, haha!  One of my more tricky setups created for Ant-Man.  All practical effects - meaning that was actual milk splashing and Cheerios flying real time in the scene.  There were multiple takes, probably a half dozen, but I ended up going with the very first shot I took.

Los Angeles Real Estate Photography

Los Angeles Real Estate, Architectural and Interior Photography by Mitchel Wu

I recently photographed this property for Los Angeles real estate professional, Lisa Kaul.  This is a recent David Spinelli/Callas Shortridge Architects remodel of a 1070 square foot house, built in Los Angeles in 1954.  The remodel was absolutely stunning, but the challenge with photographing any house this size is how to make it appear spacious, airy and inviting. I spent 90 minutes photographing the interior and exterior using existing/ambient light augmented with off-camera strobes.  I used several different lenses, each chosen for the specific look and feel I was after.  My goal was to capture the objective elements of the home as well as its more implied elements, elements that would capture and convey its essence and warmth.  These implied elements are what ultimately would be perceived as 'The Home.'

I've built my reputation on providing the highest level of personalized service to my clients, while delivering the highest caliber work.  I shoot with Canon professional gear and always arrive to assignments on time, with a full range of backup gear.  I respect my clients' time and take every necessary step to ensure assignments are completed on schedule.  In addition, I am fully insured for the benefit and safety of my clients.

Using up to five separate off-camera strobes that are triggered wirelessly enables me to control the light in very challenging environments.  After the shoot, I use the latest cutting edge photo processing and editing software - tools that allow me to provide my clients with stunning images in a timely manner.

Pasadena Wedding - Romanesque Room

What an incredible wedding day for Allan and Jessica.  The day started at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Pasadena, there was so much excitement and anticipation for the day ahead.  We then moved to St. Johns Baptist Church in Baldwin Park for the ceremony, where I met up with Sean King, of Sean King Videography/Photography (it's always a pleasure working with Sean).  The church was packed with friends and family, each person there to witness the beginning of Allan and Jessica's new life together.  The reception took place at the stunning Romanesque Room, in Old Town Pasadena. Incredible architecture and dramatic lighting really set the tone for the ensuing celebration.  

Congrats, Allan and Jessica... thanks for including us in your amazing day!

Los Angeles MOCA Street Art

Some photos from a recent visit to MOCA's Art in the Streets exhibit.  It was a great day, one that began with us having an amazing ramen lunch in neighboring Little Tokyo.  Our little ramen dive is a must-stop for us anytime we're in the area.  Once inside MOCA it was sensory overload as we walked through the cavernous display of street art.   We've been to quite a few shows at MOCA and this by far appears to be their most successful in terms of attendance.  The place was packed with people of all ages.  Street art clearly appeals to a huge, varied group of people.  Some of the installations were amazing re-creations of actual street scenes.  Street art... literally!  The third photo is a capture of Angie jumping at the entrance to a small, makeshift theater.

Nothing like a day of art to inspire and motivate!

Santa Clarita Headshots - Michael

Here's a teaser from a fantastic headshot session I had recently with Michael.  I see a very bright future for this soon-to-be theater major.  We shot at several different locations - each with a very different look and feel - and got some amazing photos. They will be cropped to a standard 8x10 headshot size, but I love how a lot of them look uncropped, like these. One day, when Michael is performing on Broadway, I'll be excited to say I knew him way back when!
