We made our annual pilgrimage to Lombardi Ranch yesterday and spent a small fortune on pumpkins and tickets to the corn field maze. Weird, deformed pumpkins were the order of the day as we tend to aim for character over pumpkin perfection. Do you love the hat??
Here are a few pics from a hike we recently took at Rice Canyon in the Santa Susana Mountains on the western edge of Santa Clarita. The hike started at an elevation of around 1400 feet and ended near the ridge at 2600 feet. We took the East Canyon Trail which ends at a huge old oak tree overlooking the entire Santa Clarita Valley - a great place to enjoy a well-deserved picnic lunch and savor the views (and try to spot our house, unsuccessfully). We hiked through three species of oak, California bay laurel, black walnut, big leaf maples and a myriad of wildflowers. Then, at around 2500 feet, you enter a different world of bigcone Douglas Firs. Some of our best days are spent hiking and this was no exception!
Angie had a recording at Nickelodeon today. It's always a challenge shooting available light in the recording studio. These photos were taken with my 85mm lens at 1.8, iso 1250. Enough with the technical jargon! For those of you with little ones (preschoolers) you can check out Angie's show, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Monday through Fridays on Nick Jr. (She's the voice of Hoho.)
Our friends got an adorable chocolate lab puppy early in the summer. "Kona" has grown into a very large dog in the 4 or 5 months since they brought him home. Kona is still a puppy but in a grown dog's body! Adorable!!
